Lucero Olive Oil is a family-owned and operated business. It was started in 2005 by Dewey Lucero but olives are nothing new to the Lucero family. The Luceros have been growing olives in Northern California for three generations and now have some of the oldest trees in North America. Dewey’s paternal grandfather, Anthony Lucero, began producing olive oil from the family's trees by pressing small batches in a hand mill during the holidays as gifts for family and close friends. On Dewey’s maternal side of the family, Dewey’s grandpa Pete Johnston has been growing table olives nearly his whole life. There is actually 4 generations of olive growing on Dewey’s maternal side, with grandpa Pete even owning an olive tree nursery for 27 years in Corning. Many of the Sevillano olive trees planted in Northern CA, came from his nursery. Dewey grew up among the olive groves, and when he was laid off from his tech job, he sat down with the family and decided to take a risk and began producing his family's extra virgin olive oil on a larger scale. Today, the company continues to grow and has won more acclaim for it's Extra Virgin Olive Oils than any other producer in North America with over 100 awards.
